'The Italian Job', is an incredible 10-day fund-raising car rally inspired by the classic 1969 film starring Sir Michael Caine and Sir Noel Coward. (Michael Caine himself is one of the event's patrons.) The run sees up to 100 Minis, old and new, travel 4000 miles over 10 days through numerous European countries to raise funds for a range of British children’s charities including Kids Out and Children in Need.
Every year 'Jobbers' (the name given to participating teams by a journalist from YOU Magazine) of all nationalities drive the 'off-the-beaten-track' roads across Europe to raise as much money as possible for children.
The 2008 rally will see teams travel to Imola in Northern Italy where the run will commence, taking them to Bologna, Turin, Monte Carlo, Lyon, Paris, Calais and finally back to the UK, to Brighton where the minis will be escorted by Sussex Traffic Police in a convoy through the city.
